Weekend Socials

 14/08/2011

Day off and definitely a day to head off to the pool.  Having spent a fairly intensive week negotiating at the library it was time to take a well-earned break.

It was at least sunny today, just not the beautiful sunshine of the previous weekend - how I wish I'd not got burnt!

We had a nice meal there again, during which it decided to cloud over and rain threatened again (!)
We were incredibly aware of our dinner engagement in the evening with William, but opted for our delicious lunch, as we had no idea what to expect.

Regrettfully the evening meal was enormous, we could have helped ourselves to continuous amounts and there was so much choice for vegetarians, I almost felt like I was insulting William by not eating huge amounts, but I was full so quickly.
It was a slightly awkward but pleasant evening.

Having discussed with my friends about prospective plans for the final week and realised that they are planning to spend a whole week in Dar es Salaam, I have been sorely tempted to change my flight.
This week I spent a few hours on the internet researching different options available and have consequently settled on Singapore 10th September, where I'll stay till 15th September.  So I now have a few extra days in Malaysia that I hadn't planned for.  Exciting!!!
It also means I'm officially covering four continents on my round the world trip...yaaay!

This week has been exceptionally boring so far with bar painting every day.  We started painting the furniture on Tuesday thankfully.  Nice to vary the painting up a bit.

On Wednesday afternoon we finished particularly early so decided to visit Lake Victoria and sample the fish and chips that had been so widely raved about.
(I had a chip omelette).  I totally got a bargain at 3500TSH compared to their 10000TSH and I didn't see what the fuss was all about.  It was nice to go out and visit Lake Victoria

In the evening, William came round to visit, bringing with him an itinerary for Safari.  We didn't even have to negotiate, but he had lowered his price to $400.  The itinerary looks amazing visiting Seregeti
and Ngorogoro Crater.  I am SO EXCITED!!!  Just need to persuade everyone to stay an extra day in Arusha as they are all adamant to leave for Dar straight away.  I am sure they will fall in love with Arusha and regret an immediate departure, but I don't think they are giving it a chance.  It's supposed to be a really cultural city!  Anyway I'm really excited for Safari and excited to see the waterfalls tomorrow.
