A very very LONG flight

10/09/2011-11/09/2011

My other flights have been long.

This one was exceptional.

Dar es Salaam - Doha - Singapore.
At least it was with Qatar Airlines the whole way.  Confort and great movies for the entire flight.

Well done STA travel. :)

On arrival at Doha I had an overnight stay in the airport, where I managed to find a special room with chair/beds.  Absolute genius!
I was very impressed with myself for discovering this...much better than the night I spent in Nairobi airport and had to pretend to stay awake all night because there was nowhere to sleep.

Flying to Singapore was beautiful...that part of the world is stunning...aaaah so excited.

I arrived late into the evening, by which point I had to go through the challenging process of Singapore security.  I was always worried at this, because of their drug policy and everything.

My suncream had exploded over the bottom of my bag, and the security guy noticed it...we then deduced what this was and all was fine.  Panic over.
I had got through customs and now time to navigate Singapore.

There was a shuttle bus which took you straight to the hostels, with a very friendly (English speaking) driver.  He even pointed out sights along the way
It was so easy to navigate and I fell in love with Singapore straight away.
At night it was alive...in a good way.

It was also clean.  So so clean.  Leaving that dirty air of Dar behind.

Ah air con!

The hostel was busy, sticky and full of Westerners.  The receptionists seemed friendly enough, although perhaps not the politest I have met, but I was able to head up to my dorm...a 16 person room!

After a very long journey I rested for the night ready for a day of exploring.
