Arusha - Gateway to Kilimanjaro

06/09/2011

I wanted to stop by Arusha because of the shopping.

I wasn't let down.  There were so many more places to shop than in Dar - so many more markets.

The others seemed scared off by Arusha, but for me it felt safer.  Maybe it felt a bit more like Accra.
I liked it.

I would love to have stayed longer, but I lost that argument and had to make do with Dar for a longer period.

The food was great here, loads of places which served up lovely vegetarian food, and smoothies.

I think everyone was pretty tired so other than market shopping we didn't really do much in the way of cultural visits.

I bought an Mbira - I was so happy about this!

Long journey back to Dar.  Although definitely not as long as the way to Bukoba.

The scenary was even better this way, and we were going past Kilimanjaro and the African mountains.
Stunning, stunning views.

We sadly didn't see Kili, as it was too misty when we did go past it :( Next time...?

Arriving back into Dar was not welcome.
Traffic, traffic, traffic, horns and more horns.

Yes, we were definitely back.

I was also NOT looking forward to being back at the YMCA.

At least they were able to find a bed for me there, but I was very much looking forward to escaping as soon as possible.
