A relaxing weekend

06/08/2011

Today was Amy's 21st and also supposedly a lie-in as it was a Saturday.
But as we've established we don't get lie-ins in Tanzania due to the loudness of the chickens and also nearby humans making excessive noise.

The day started with an epic fail at making pancakes. The flour we'd bought turned out not to be flour...so we had porridge instead.

We then took a taxi to the Walkgard Hotel, a lovely hotel with a swimming pool, set high up on a hill overlooking Lake Victoria.

This is absolutely stunning and we had the pool completely to ourselves for the whole day just for sunbathing.  We also had a delicious meal (I got paneer Makhani..yumm!) before returning home in time for sunset.

Sunday we had all the intention of going for a lovely walk down by Lake Victoria.  Unfortunately the weather had other ideas and it was chucking it down with rain all day.
The good news was discovering that the one channel on the TV in English was showing football and actually showed the charity shield match.
United beat City (yeeeeees), although I missed most of the game. :(

Sounds like a cracking match though.
