Another change of scenery today, with us leaving the cooler climate of Monteverde for the tropical temperatures of Manuel Antonio national park. It was quite a lengthy drive, but again watching the outside change as we drove along meant the time passed in no time. This was something I've discovered about Costa Rica, no matter how long the journey, there is always something to see outside the window, that you really can't take your eyes off the outside.
When we arrived at our hotel, we had a bit of a walk round the town for orientation, but otherwise it was a bit of free time that was quite welcome.
I did spend the afternoon looking into another night tour, as I felt the jungle night tour would offer something different to what we'd seen already. Despite my best efforts this proved to be a labour of love, because each tour I tried to book, cancelled because of short notice/not enough participants. I had pretty much exhausted all possibilities when it struck me that we were staying in a hotel/hostel combo and they nearly always have tours or connections with tour companies. They struck gold, and were able to book me and a friend on that evening.
Another fantastic guide for the tour as well. This was the tour when I really fell in love with the frogs and toads, because they were in full chorus, and many of them were out for us to see. Our guide knew where to find them, but also could recognise their individual calls, so knew where they would be posing for us. They were definitely little show offs, so photogenic đŸ˜†.
We also had the chance to see more sloths, basilisks (also known as Jesus Christ lizards, as they can walk on water...), and my friend became brave around tarantulas, which tonight were not hiding. One of the spiders we met didn't hunt its prey through webs, but through chasing them, which I found pretty interesting. There were also some caimans and alligators.
It was a wonderful tour, and I would absolutely recommend anyone trying to book onto something similar.
